Vintage Holiday Magazine Home Feature!!!

Let’s start with the front of the house! We lucked out and had the perfect amount of festive snow for the shoot. I brought out the giant vintage 4×8 foot tree sign just for the occasion and it looked pretty cute outside or sweet bungalow. It’s on an original barn door from an old nursery, nabbed it at an estate sale a few years back.
Now let’s head to my favorite room, the kitchen nook. Something magical happens with the snow, and aqua, and silver. It feels quiet and still and super relaxing in this spot. We love to look over the garden and watch the birds and squirrels from this spot. I added an aqua tree this year, a cozy rug, and a vintage tree skirt that is amazing!
Here’s a mix of lots of details. Pink poinsettia, new to me snowman mugs, the cute tree and tree skirt, wonderful silver wreath, custom aqua artgoodies stockings, some Russel Wright aqua melmac and Sweetielicious coconut cupcakes look like fluffy snowy treats!
The kitchen got a mini makeover near the sink too. I used 4 artgoodies all over pattern snowflake tea towels and some pompon trim to create this look. Plus I decided a citrus fruit tree would be festive and bring in some nice color. We also made an awesome gingerbread house, you have to see the closeups on my instagram! And an artgoodies stripey elf towel looks right at home!
I really went all out on our bedroom. It feels fun to have it really changed out and festive. Whatdya know, I had some red and green trays lying around, lol. I’d also been saving this amazing oak leaf mid century fabric and I had just the right amount for new curtains. Thing is, if you flip them upside down they look like cool funky holly leaves! I sewed up a couple of green pillows for some leftover fabric, and here’s one of my vintage scrap pillows I make from time to time. My friend Joleen recently gave me a couple of twin chenille bedspreads and layering them gave me the perfect coverage adding extra interest with more fringe, and I styled a nice vintage plaid throw with tray of goodies for extra coziness!
Festive mania! I made the pole for these lonely vintage aluminum tree branches and filled them with green, red, and gold ornaments. Some festive tins, a sleigh, etc sit below, and would you believe I snagged this tree skirt at the dollar store!? There are some hidden gems amongst the straight up junk there. The other dresser got a healthy heaping of all sorts of vintage holiday deer, santas, etc! Lots of new to me pieces went in here. I styled in a couple jade colored planters and kitchen pieces to coordinate with my Summerettes shoe sign. And a trio of artgoodies doily stockings hang below!
It was fun to style the newly redone den man room for the holiday. We snagged this tree at the Salvation Army for a mere $1.50! It was smashed up and tangled with terrible ornaments and multicolored lights, Within a half hour I had those cut off, puffed it out, and styled it up with mini white lights and vintage and copper colored ornaments. I love the result! I also won some loot at World Market since I found a golden llama during one of their promotions so I bought these new bottle brush wreaths and styled them as candle rings. I don’t do much new, but the colors were right on for the room. A pretty poinsettia, kissing angels, and some candles completed the cozy look.
And the living room shelves got filled with vintage metal doll houses, a few decorated with wreaths, and trees outside. The aluminum tree in the window is one of 2 in the room. There are some fun details on my instagram including Santa’s Christmas Tree lot! Oh, and why not put a cozy fireplace on the tv to brighten the holiday mood.
Here’s the big tree! It sits in a pale pink stand that spins, and the vintage tree skirt is pretty great, but check out those packages covered in artgoodies wrapping paper! I whipped up a couple of more holiday themed pillows with vintage scrap too. And you can’t go wrong with an artgoodies MI pillow. There are SO many more pics and details, this is just the beginning. Happiest of Holidays to you and yours!

The great wall of all vintage holiday display! Well, far from all but it does house quite a bit of the collection!
My new display this year. I nabbed this wood shelf house at a thrifty this summer. It was dark brown, hunter green, and golden yellow…nothing a little spray paint and sanding couldn’t fix! I put my more traditional red and green pieces here and I love it!
A local photographer, Matthew Provoast came and shot some interiors for holiday. Aren’t they great! 2 of the aluminum trees are in this room, the other on the front porch.
Photo by Matthew Provoast. A rare glimpse into the other side of the dining room. This year I added garland decor on the window.
Photo by Matthew Provoast. I saved this sign a few years back out of an old barn at an old farm just outside GR. I had to borrow a van to get it but I knew it had to come home with me! Here’s Stephan and I striking a pose.
Another one by Matthew Provoast. The snow makes the color of the door pop and the arrangements I made compliment it too. Snowy front door entrance.
I got my very own sign. Thanks to a dear friend for helping me design this. I’m learning but creating giant graphic files isn’t really my thing. I was in the last class to graduate college before learning/doing computer design was mandatory, the struggle is real.
Outside the shop at night. I hung a clothesline from a couple of light posts and love how the product hangs against the lights. I also adore these vintage signs I bought a few years back, I had no idea how truly perfect they’d be someday!
Christmas Day table setting, well, almost, I had to add another row of tables and seating for the rest of the gang but I was almost there. Lucky for me my vintage closet provides a nice array of props when I do my color of the month settings, and at holiday and for special occcasions 🙂
You may have noticed I moved the small aluminum tree and replaced it with a real tree in it’s usual place of honor, smells so good! A view from the kitchen into the dining and living room.
The kitchen nook. All is calm all is bright. Custom aqua artgoodies doily stockings, a vintage bottlebrush tree on the table with my Marcrest Stetson Swiss Chalet plates, pinecone shaped lights, and tinsel wreath with blue vintage bells and ball accents. I love the icy holiday magic here.
A rare look at the other side of the dining room. Switched the drapes out again with a pair that hung in my grandma’s dining room. A clock from my great grandmother, grandpa’s stereo, an array of gold holiday decor and globe atop a vintage George Nelson and Assoc tray, amazing vintage Peabody fibgerglass chair, vintage flokati rug accent, and handmade vintage deer trim pillow., oh and a mid century planter as well.
Here’s a new space for my holiday decor. I got a skinny mini tree and some new blue, green, and white lights and thought, YES, a blue and green front porch vintage style holiday! The little tree has vintage blue and green ornaments with handmade bead snowflakes and a few new ones too. A vintage angel topper, and a little handmade vinyl vintage tree skirt complete the look. artgoodies recycled felt stockings in snowflake and elf hang above, snowflake pillows, and elf stuffies replace some of my usual pillows, and the awesome vintage hand painted reindeer sign fits perfectly on the wall! And you can see it from outside, so bonus, it greets guests with a happy holiday vibe!
Here’s where the little aluminum tree went, which worked out great since I could light up both little blow molds! The perfect size to be featured in the window, and I decided to keep that antique stand I had for sale, it worked perfectly for this tree!
And speaking of greeting guests. I just love this little vintage toolbox I thrifted a few years back. It’s really fun to change out seasonally. It’s amazing how much your little city yard can provide. Look at all the magic stuffed into this little box! 3 different style pine cedar branches, pine cones, berries, dried flower seed pods, some silvery sage. It’s so welcoming at the door and always fun to design! This year as I pulled my geraniums out I even had one with a bud, on Dec 23rd!
It’s fun to mix up the holiday display a little every year! A change in the boxes including the addition of a little house shaped one, some new blow mold lights, a plastic Santa cookie jar, new bottle brush trees, a few new colored reindeer, and a few new small friends too! I have sold some pieces in case you’re wondering, and you might wanna head to the vintage shop to scope out the well stocked vintage holiday section there! After the feature in Vintage Holiday Magazine Fall 2015 issue I felt like I could let a few pieces go and begin to rotate a bit.
Table setting Dec 2015! I LOVE the icy winter look of this! The vintage moonstone glass dishes lend themselves so nicely with the blue! A few blue corsages add a nice touch, and a little Shiny Brite table top tree is always a favorite holiday accent of mine, plus you can’t go wrong with an artgoodies snowflake towel!
