check out the ever changing display at months end, what will it be next month??? stay tuned!
November! I’m feeling more chipper about the holiday season this year. Maybe it’s because we’re slated for a fun photo shoot, or because the temps have been awesome and I’ve been gardening away for what seems longer than normal. I did a big pre cold harvest in the garden to avoid the usual and sometimes flashlight assisted panic harvest. So much better, ha. We’ve also been busy gathering up all sorts of goodies for the vintage shop! Vintage holiday as well as the usual home goods. Plenty of vintage to choose from this season! Plus I’ve been working more in the studio: making, cleaning, and thinking of new plans and ideas which feels nice. I’ve really been on a bit of a hiatus, focusing on Stephan and I, the wedding, not feeling well before and after surgery, and just feeling tired from working SO hard for sooo long. I’m gearing back up though, so look out. Let’s get back to the Color of the Month, getting festive for Thanksgiving, and I’m already thinking holiday decor!
October! Fall! But the weather feels awesome like summer, so…hooray! The garden is still producing nicely and we’re enjoying a lot of time outside. We just celebrated our one year anniversary, my parents birthdays with a little lake visit, and tomorrow I celebrate 1 year of recovering from a major surgery and being overjoyed that what they thought was potentially cancerous was benign. WHAT. A. YEAR! There are so many things to say and yet I can’t quite find the right words. So instead, I give you color of the month October 2017!
September! Wow. I’m working on embracing that early fall feeling, although it is STILL summer folks! Mornings are starting to get a bit chilly on the new side patio, but we are spending lots of time there. We have also been planting some new fall blooming friends like mums, asters, hyssop, and some spring bulbs. Plus, I’m harvesting garden goodies and making sauces, chopping, and freezing for what we are now calling “the off season”, ahem..aka..winter. As usual, I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around the garden going to sleep, but Stephan assures me that time outside will still be fun with activities like igloo building. Looks like I’ll have to up my outdoor winter wardrobe! So with that, color of the month! Aqua, in honor of our wedding brunch theme and 1st anniversary!
August! I’d like to remind people who complain that summer is pretty much over that there is plenty of time to be outside and enjoy the amazing weather and garden time! Enjoy it folks, soak it in! We sure have been enjoying cottage time, gardening, patio time, and watching: the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, butterflies, etc, it’s so awesome! Fave vintage: the yellow and gold ceramic peacock, gorgeous canister set, cream n sugar set, piggy planter, salt n p’s, flower glass, coffee mugs, yellow ware bowl, anchored on a Navy hankie that says friend. Lots of great pieces this month. Head to the vintage shop to buy most of it! How bout that this sunshine yellow melmac! Bright and fun just like summer! Flowers from the garden too! Fave vintage: the melmac, of course, plaid napkins, flower glasses, and bold tablecloth!
I felt like it was only fitting to do a festive color of the month theme for July, especially since I have these fab red, white, and blue star glasses! Fave vintage: red metal lunch box, red shakers, plastic bank house, festive star glasses, fired on blue glass bottles, Hazel Atlas child’s mug, amazing flamingo cooler jug, cups from the now closed beloved Bonnie Doon, what I wouldn’t give for a plain mint ice cream cone, anchored on an amazing red and white star napkin! Fave vintage: Fire King swirl dishes, subtle plaid glasses, star napkins, awesome tablecloth, artgoodies cherry towel, and fresh picked hydrangeas!
Color of the Month June 2017! We picked up a large lot of Fire King Azurite dishes at a flea market over Memorial day. The cool unique color inspired this month’s vignette and table setting. And in today’s heat a cool blue feels just right! Fave vintage: the dishes of course, birdie planter, deco salt shaker, ruffled planter, and charming vintage napkin. Pretty simple but packs a nice punch with the tablecloth! Fave vintage: Fire King azurite dishes, blue edged napkins, awesome tablecloth, and little milk glass vase with a snip of my America rose.
May! The garden has really really sprouted and we’ve begun yard work. We’ve been chopping down scrub trees, done a bit of weeding, and I sold my beloved vintage Knoll patio set to help pay for the new roof, but purchased another cool vintage set that folds easily for storage. Stephan dug out a new area in the front of the house and we’re working on new plans and plantings. This is the worst allergy season I think I’ve ever had but I’m hanging in there. I also just turned 40. I’m still processing that a bit, but the over the hill theme inspired this black and white and red color of the month, ha. Fave vintage: thermos, graphics on the cloth box, coffee tin banks, canisters, kitschy bowling item, tiny salt and p’s, strawberry jar, and Ebonette cups n saucers. Fave vintage: cute tablecloth, Knowles Ebonette dishes, red striped napkins, and a few hosta leaves for interest.
Better late than never! Here you go April color of the month! Stephan wanted orange so I whipped up these little stylings.April 2017 color of the month table setting! Fave vintage: melmac plates, glasses, milk glass cups, awesome tea pot, great tray, orange napkins, using a retro bedspread as a tablecloth for a real pop! And an artgoodies butterfly towel! #vintage #tablesett
Color of the month! Let’s talk green! The flippy floppy early spring feeling weather has me thinking double time about gardening! The tulips, crocus, and daffodils are starting to peek out and saying hello. We are talking about garden expansion and revamps and can’t wait to get planning and digging. So, color of the month March 2017 is green in honor of plants!
Color of the Month February 2017!!! Valentine’s is a couple weeks away and so festive red and pink vintage seemed the way to go. Plus with everything that’s happening these days sending a little extra love out into the world seems necessary.
