Color of the Month April 2018!

Yay, April! Of course, I’m nearly garden obsessed. I’ve got some heirloom seeds sprouting this year, and we’re well on the way with our project out front. We got some free bricks from what used to be a dairy in our neighborhood and we’re in the process of getting rid of more grass and making a little pattern out front. And we’ve got big ideas for something new along the driveway side. This month’s color of the month has me feeling like driving down a country road, stopping at some farm stands, picking up some old time treasures, and having a picnic with a slice of pie. I had planned to have my 1953 Chevy pickup about now, but that dream awaits. I’m really longing for a slower paced feeling in today’s fast paced world. I’m focused on all that inspires me and creating even more of that feeling around me. Like the cigar box says, breathe, haha. Many items available in the vintage shop!

Fave vintage-my grandfather’s cigar box, tomato juice glasses, awesome rare Mobil Gas glass, rooster glasses, coffee mug, tape tin, thermos, canister, grounded by a vintage napkin.

Fave vintage: cute covered bridge vintage tablecloth, Fire King plates, pie carrier, red fired on milk glass mugs, red striped napkins, jadite plate, and an artgoodies all over pattern bike towel!

Color of the Month March 2018

March! Spring Fever has officially set in even with the bitz of snow the last couple days. I’m constantly looking at seed catalogs and dreaming of the garden. We picked up some bare root blue hostas and a few seed packets as well. We’ve already done a basic yard cleanup and edged the sidewalk and curb out front so once it gets a little warmer we’ll easily be able to rake the leaves protecting the fresh sprouts and off it will go. We’ve got a plan for making the strip between the sidewalk and street grass free and look forward to making a new green space there. We’ve been dreaming up some other projects as well and are researching here and there. So, this month, ode to green in thinking about green sprouts and gardeny goodness with a splash of St. Paddy’s in there. Enjoy!

Fave vintage: depression glass cups, cut glass green juice glasses, fun mugs, and a little tea canister, anchored by a vintage pale green edge napkin. All available in shop, except the juice glasses!

Fave vintage: ivy tablecloth, green striped napkins used as placemats, plaid napkins, dogwood and church steeple glasses that remind me rummage season is almost here! Green melmac dishes, jadite plate, green jar, the addition of lovely flowers including a cabbage that feels very St Patrick’s day, and last but certainly not least, an artgoodies organic cotton nest tea towel. Bring on the spring green!

Color of the Month February 2018!

February! January zipped by a bit with feeling under the weather for weeks. These winter days are chugging along and I’m dreaming of the garden every day, slightly avoiding working on taxes, but meh, they’ll get done. The days are noticeably longer and the sun is peeking out a bit more it seems. The birds and squirrels are pretty active and I’m starting to hear some birds singing in the morning which gets me excited for the promise of Spring around the corner!  It’s a couple weeks until Valentine’s so this month’s color is PINK! And don’t forget you can shop now for there are plenty of artgoodies products that fit the season for decor or gifting!

Fave vintage: pink melmac, tiny Hazel Atlas planter, cute couple planter, Hazel Atlas cream n sugar, Pyrex bowl, and Hazel Atlas salt n p’s. AND 2 funny Kewpie planters from my personal collection, anchored by a simple pink edged vintage napkin. Lots of this available in the vintage shop as usual!

Fave vintage: pretty floral tablecloth, Fire King plates with melmac on top, boomerang glasses, pink edged napkins as placemats, and an artgoodies all over cupcake organic tea towel! Plus this very pink poinsettia is still looking smart in its MCCoy pot! Oh, and that depression glass oval etched bowl is quite pretty!

Home for the Holidays!

This year really was all about home. I prepared for a magazine holiday photo shoot- it’ll be out next year, lips sealed til then! Pretty exciting, and I went festive on the entire house. It’s amazing what you can do with thrifted, estate saled, hunted down items, and it helps that I basically have a vintage prop closet in my studio. Stephan and I picked up quite a few new to us vintage holiday pieces this year and they certainly came in handy for the decor! I had a great time styling the house up and I think we got some great shots. I just looove working on these projects so much! I’ll share some select overall pics of the house, and if you want to see a lot more check out my instagram page, lots of details there!  LOTS!

Let’s start with the front of the house! We lucked out and had the perfect amount of festive snow for the shoot. I brought out the giant vintage 4×8 foot tree sign just for the occasion and it looked pretty cute outside or sweet bungalow. It’s on an original barn door from an old nursery, nabbed it at an estate sale a few years back.

Now let’s head to my favorite room, the kitchen nook. Something magical happens with the snow, and aqua, and silver. It feels quiet and still and super relaxing in this spot. We love to look over the garden and watch the birds and squirrels from this spot. I added an aqua tree this year, a cozy rug, and a vintage tree skirt that is amazing!

Here’s a mix of lots of details. Pink poinsettia, new to me snowman mugs, the cute tree and tree skirt, wonderful silver wreath, custom aqua artgoodies stockings, some Russel Wright aqua melmac and Sweetielicious coconut cupcakes look like fluffy snowy treats!

The kitchen got a mini makeover near the sink too. I used 4 artgoodies all over pattern snowflake tea towels and some pompon trim to create this look. Plus I decided a citrus fruit tree would be festive and bring in some nice color. We also made an awesome gingerbread house, you have to see the closeups on my instagram! And an artgoodies stripey elf towel looks right at home!

I really went all out on our bedroom. It feels fun to have it really changed out and festive. Whatdya know, I had some red and green trays lying around, lol. I’d also been saving this amazing oak leaf mid century fabric and I had just the right amount for new curtains. Thing is, if you flip them upside down they look like cool funky holly leaves! I sewed up a couple of green pillows for some leftover fabric, and here’s one of my vintage scrap pillows I make from time to time. My friend Joleen recently gave me a couple of twin chenille bedspreads and layering them gave me the perfect coverage adding extra interest with more fringe, and I styled a nice vintage plaid throw with tray of goodies for extra coziness!

Festive mania! I made the pole for these lonely vintage aluminum tree branches and filled them with green, red, and gold ornaments. Some festive tins, a sleigh, etc sit below, and would you believe I snagged this tree skirt at the dollar store!? There are some hidden gems amongst the straight up junk there. The other dresser got a healthy heaping of all sorts of vintage holiday deer, santas, etc! Lots of new to me pieces went in here. I styled in a couple jade colored planters and kitchen pieces to coordinate with my Summerettes shoe sign. And a trio of artgoodies doily stockings hang below!

It was fun to style the newly redone den man room for the holiday. We snagged this tree at the Salvation Army for a mere $1.50! It was smashed up and tangled with terrible ornaments and multicolored lights, Within a half hour I had those cut off, puffed it out, and styled it up with mini white lights and vintage and copper colored ornaments. I love the result! I also won some loot at World Market since I found a golden llama during one of their promotions so I bought these new bottle brush wreaths and styled them as candle rings. I don’t do much new, but the colors were right on for the room. A pretty poinsettia, kissing angels, and some candles completed the cozy look.

And the living room shelves got filled with vintage metal doll houses, a few decorated with wreaths, and trees outside. The aluminum tree in the window is one of 2 in the room. There are some fun details on my instagram including Santa’s Christmas Tree lot! Oh, and why not put a cozy fireplace on the tv to brighten the holiday mood.

Here’s the big tree! It sits in a pale pink stand that spins, and the vintage tree skirt is pretty great, but check out those packages covered in artgoodies wrapping paper! I whipped up a couple of more holiday themed pillows with vintage scrap too. And you can’t go wrong with an artgoodies MI pillow. There are SO many more pics and details, this is just the beginning. Happiest of Holidays to you and yours!

Color of the Month November 2017!

November! I’m feeling more chipper about the holiday season this year. Maybe it’s because we’re slated for a fun photo shoot, or because the temps have been awesome and I’ve been gardening away for what seems longer than normal. I did a big pre cold harvest in the garden to avoid the usual and sometimes flashlight assisted panic harvest. So much better, ha. We’ve also been busy gathering up all sorts of goodies for the vintage shop! Vintage holiday as well as the usual home goods. Plenty of vintage to choose from this season! Plus I’ve been working more in the studio: making, cleaning, and thinking of new plans and ideas which feels nice. I’ve really been on a bit of a hiatus, focusing on Stephan and I, the wedding, not feeling well before and after surgery, and just feeling tired from working SO hard for sooo long. I’m gearing back up though, so look out. Let’s get back to the Color of the Month, getting festive for Thanksgiving, and I’m already thinking holiday decor!

Fave vintage: Gurley candles, Warwick China, Pyrex, anchored by an embroidered napkin.

Fave vintage: another great fall tablecloth, napkins doubling as placemats, pyrex, squirrel planter, Warwick restaurant Ware dishes, and and artgoodies deer towel to finish it off.

Color of the Month October 2017!

October! Fall! But the weather feels awesome like summer, so…hooray! The garden is still producing nicely and we’re enjoying a lot of time outside. We just celebrated our one year anniversary, my parents birthdays with a little lake visit, and tomorrow I celebrate 1 year of recovering from a major surgery and being overjoyed that what they thought was potentially cancerous was benign. WHAT. A. YEAR! There are so many things to say and yet I can’t quite find the right words. So instead, I give you color of the month October 2017!
Fave vintage: striped glasses from Brazil, orange casserole/fridgie, Halloween Gurley candles, Tang pitcher, pyrex mugs, juice glass, Halloween blow mold, artgoodies oak leaf towel up top, anchored by a black, probably mourning, hankie.
