The spare room functioned as my office awhile back, then stayed as an art gallery, sitting area, and spare bedroom. It looked super cute and was featured along with the rest of the house in the summer issue of Cottage Style 2013, and then on Apartment Therapy 2015, but it wasn’t getting much use and starting to become a catch all for this and that, ick. I’ve contemplated restyling this room for some time and so we decided to make it into a bit of a man cave room for Stephan and really a relaxed den for us. It was really fun working on restyling it together and I’m super pleased with how it turned out! Just a few more pieces of art to frame and hang but it’s really come together. I also recently found some pics of the house listing when I purchased it. I actually had never seen these photos as I was the first person to see the house and the new listing didn’t have any images, so I thought it would be fun to throw the before before in there too!
Oh boy. Brown carpet, country wallpaper, driftwoody paneling. The previous owner used it as an office and cat room. Not very pretty. The very first thing I did in the house was rip that carpet OUT!
This is how the room functioned for quite some time. Color reduction prints I created during and after college, a cute floral loveseat that pulled out into a twin bed, file cabinet, and the other side had an awesome mid century chair and mini credenza. See the Apartment Therapy tour for the whole thing. Link bottom of the main page.
And this is the room redo! We opted for navy walls, which I really like, so different than the green, and gives it a more masculine feel. New rug, new mid century style futon from Better Homes and Gardens, I love it, looks like a cool mid century couch! Vintage table, lamp, vintage fabric pillows I made, and dad’s wall map he’s had since childhood. The other side house the credenza we had in here before with a tv and stereo. I love the feeling of this room, and we use it all the time, and Stephan has a place to go chill out and listen to music, watch football etc.
