Color of the Month March 2014!

Well, with the longest winter ever breaking snowfall and cold temp records yellow seemed like the most logical color this month! I’m ready for sunshine and Spring! I know it’s coming as I hear birds starting to chirp and I saw some little sparrows gathering nest materials. But alas, it snowed last night and it’s frigid! You know it’s bad when you’re like please, 30 degrees, that’s all I ask for, is it too much, apparently the answer is yes.

Fave items: striped Deka bowls, swanky swigs with both daffodil and tulip. Shawnee pottery on the bottom, not sure who made the little tiny planter on top, and a cotton bird, anchored by a striped napkin.

Fave items: vintage daffodil tablecloth, it's in rough shape here and there but I love it! Glitter/rubber coated glasses, rose melmac plates, melmac cream and sugar, and the little ceramic bird and flower toothpick/salt and pepper set!

color of the month February 2014- Winter Green

Well, it’s safe to say that this feels like the longest winter EVER. It’s been freezing and just constantly snowing. I took a pic of the house but you can’t even tell where the snow stops and starts since there is so much and it’s so white! I’m thankful for my New Years getaway and the chance to see some lush green, but it has me even more eager for Spring! So, I present, color of the month Feb 2014 Winter Green!

I haven't been out thrifting or going to estate sales in quite awhile due to the long winter. The closet is a little low on new things so here is an eclectic green mix. Fave items:striped Deka bowl, striped mugs, recipe box, state glasses, Goldilocks and the 3 bears glass, and the kitschy chicken casserole dish!

I've been waiting to do a table setting with this awesome vintage tablecloth I added to my collection late summer. Plus, these Russel Wright dishes aren't so bad either! The casserole I picked up was a steal since it has little cracks, but look how gorgeous it is! The fun vintage napkins also make cute place mats!

color of the month January 2014

Sorry for the delay! I know I’m a couple weeks late with my color of the month with vacation and a pile of work waiting for me when I got home. So here it is, color of the month January 2014! Fresh cool aqua blue seems like a crisp way to start off the New Year, don’t ya think!

Basically everything from my personal collection, sorry nothing for you to buy this month! Fave items: recently scored this set of aqua canisters at a thrift, awesome small rare imperial ware melmac bowls and butter pat perhaps, tiny aqua play cookware, cream and sugar pottery-not sure the maker on these, hilarious and super kitschy shell and pearl salt and peppers! Plus a new small Hazel Atlas aqua glass bowl on top.

Gorgeous vintage blue floral tablecloth makes way for speckled aqua melmac plates, plaid aqua napkins, rooster mugs, aqua salt and p's and small pyrex casserole.

Happy New Year all!

I just got back from a wonderful New Year’s Break. I headed West to the beautiful dreamland of the Pacific Northwest to visit one of my dearest friends. I was lucky that my travel plans just skirted around a crazy polar vortex storm. While I was enjoying lush greenery, gorgeous scenery, and 45 balmy degrees, home was getting blasted with monster snow and sub zero temps! It felt great to take a break, disconnect from work and technology, and reconnect with a couple good friends. Plus we got to spend 4 days at the most beautiful place on Bainbridge Island, thanks Wanda and Rico!!! (aunt and uncle to a college friend) If you are headed out to the NW, Seattle area, you have to stay at their place which you can rent on VRBO! They are gracious hosts with a gorgeous comfortable place, stunning views from every room, and basically it just feels like home and your life is perfect! They’ve thought of everything you would need away from home! As an early riser, every morning I watched the sun come up over Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier, seals swim by, and eagles fly. Here’s the link, seriously, click here and book it now! Below are pics from the deck! Stunning! Also, check out some more vacation pics on my flickr page here.

Home for the Holidays: Part 4

Merry Christmas Everyone! After a very busy holiday season I’ve been taking a little break the last few days. I get into my work zone and I don’t even notice how exhausted I’ve become. Lots of napping and couch time this past weekend.  I managed to mix in a holiday gathering with friends and I’m having family over for a big holiday meal today. I hope you all have a restful and happy holiday with family, friends, and loved ones.

My family is coming over today for a traditional Christmas Eve meal. Table for 10 made possible by and extra folding 6 ft table adjoining the dining room table. Add a few vintage chairs, and the most vintage holiday decor you may have ever seen, plus the most amazing vintage holiday tablecloth and voila!

With the help of my little yard I gathered up a bunch of naturey goodness to make this thrifted vintage toolbox super festive and welcoming at the front door. I love it!

Home for the Holidays: Part 3

More magical vintage holiday decor!

This year I added some pinecone shaped lights to the kitchen nook, more silver vintage reindeer on the window sill, and a couple of bottle brush trees with mercury glass bulbs in the corner shelves. Still loving my vintage foil wreath with vintage blue bells, and my special custom artgoodies aqua doily stockings!

My Rare pink Rushton Santa makes an appearance on the shelf with this large size celluloid reindeer, fun decorated vintage tree, and 3 glitter sawdust reindeer!
